The North West of England pioneered a great deal in the world computers including in 1947 the so-called Manchester computer that ran the world's first stored computer programme.

The Time-Line Computer Archive is in the process of being set up, the creation of the Museum and Archive is the brain child of Michael Armstrong and Sandra Hodson. They have already collected 1000s of items from full-scale main frame computers through to punched-card input devices.
