HRS 1197 Manchester, Salford Junction Canal, plan part A 6 foot rise lock
The plan show the double-opposed gates of the entrance lock to the canal from the river Irwell. The opposed gates were to prevent loss of water from the navigation when the river was low and flooding when the river was high.
