HRS 1856 MBBC,Scotson Fold Farm, Radcliffe c1971

Scotson Fold Farm is an interesting little complex. Almost certainly that is not its original name, there was a family of Scotsons according to the Parish Registers. Interestingly two of them were colliers. The pond immediately next to the 17th century original farm buildings was a coal-pit well before the 19th century. (SEE PHOTO) Map Ref: SD 7771207007 On the nearby Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal there was a dock adjacent to the farm post 1850.
