HRS 495 Pilsworth bridge Dec 1973

Little remains of this cast iron ornamental bridge that spans Whittle Brook near the communities of Hollins and Pilsworth, near Bury and Whitefield. The road led to the former bleachworks on the site, but could pre-date the bleachworks being part of an earlier road. The existing central part of the structure is brick suggesting the original lateral iron structure was attached to the sides to improve its appearance. It probably dates back to the beginning of the 19th century. Other images of the bridge are available on request by email - including more recent images.
