HRS 4473 Bealey's bleachworks, windvane and clock Radcliffe

This was the entrance to the works. Next to the clock tower on the left is a round tower, it once housed a weather vane which indicated which way the wind was blowing. The lead-chamber sulphuric acid process produced toxic fumes and served as an indicator as to when it was safe to burn the sulphur and allow the wind to carry away from the local community.
