HRS 299 MBBC Hinds mill

Hinds Mill was sandwiched between the River Irwell to the left of the picture and the canal to the right - out of shot. It was a logwood grinding mill for many years, logwood being a south American timber with peculiar properties allowing the production of lilac, violet blue and black dyestuffs for the textile trade.
