The Clogau Gold mines near Barmouth in North Wales are world famous. Gold extraction was on a small scale, the gold never being very plentiful. In 1964 I went to the mine and was taken underground and saw gold on quartz ready to be removed from the mine. Currently the mine is closed although Clogau gold is advertised on TV using extracted stocks. KH
