View south from Claughton Fell to Haylot Fell, Swaintley Hill or mound is clearly visible in centre. The origin of the mound probably lies at the end of the last Ice Age event and is almost certainly what is known as a kame mound caused by the surface water of the melting ice depositing its load of sand and gravel into an eroded hole in the ice.
